About the Event
On 17th March 2026, the ACM RIT Student Chapter was officially inaugurated at the Wozniak Auditorium, Rajalakshmi Institute of Technology, Chennai. The event marked a proud milestone for the student community, bringing together students, faculty, and a distinguished chief guest to celebrate the birth of the chapter.
The ceremony began with a warm felicitation of the chief guest, followed by a momentous occasion where the newly elected office bearers of the ACM RIT Student Chapter took their oath — formally committing to lead and grow the chapter with dedication and purpose.
The chief guest, who serves as the ACM Student Chapter Coordinator at VIT, then took the stage and shared her invaluable experience on how to build, grow, and sustain a thriving ACM Student Chapter. Drawing from her journey at VIT, she offered practical guidance and inspiration to the newly formed team at RIT.
She then delivered an engaging guest lecture on Cyber Security, making the subject deeply relatable by connecting it to the smartphones we use every day. She walked the audience through how granting unrestricted app permissions silently exposes our personal data, and how everyday digital habits can become serious security vulnerabilities. Through real-life examples and interactive discussion, she brought the world of cyber security to life — leaving the audience with a sharper awareness of the digital risks around them.
